From the very beginning, our mission has been to give as many people as possible the opportunity to discover martial arts. Right from the start, we have set ourselves up to make sure the nobody would be prevented from becoming involved. When it comes to money, we have also set our standard rates much cheaper than others, and we have always offered family and low income discounts as well, so that not having so much money need not be an obstacle.

Right now, though, money is real tight for everyone, and we know that people who not long ago would not have had to worry about being able to pay are now really worried about what they can afford. So we have taken some big steps to keep us true to our mission, giving some very important help to people who subscribe to our public classes.

Many martial arts school set a high subscription, without discounts, which goes up each year, and then expect you to pay an extra "licence" fee, pay for expensive suits and expensive equipment, and pay more to attend expensive events. We don't do any of these things.

Our fees don't rise. Ever.

Our loyalty guarantee scheme means that the subscription rate you start on is the rate you pay forever.

Family discounts.

There are big family discounts on all our subscriptions.

Support for everyone on a low income.

Our low income Tai Chi subscriptions cost just £10 per month, for which you can attend all our Tai Chi classes, and there are low income subscriptions for TaeKwonDo, SAMA, and Enso too.

There are no hidden costs.

You pay for your subscription. If you are in an art that includes gradings - which are always optional - we ask you to pay for them (there's a low income rate for that, too), and that's everything.

Suits? We'll give you one.

Outside London, in arts where there are required suits - so that's TaeKwonDo and Enso - we will give you a free suit when you pay your first month's subscription. In London, you pay for your first suit but get your first grading free in return for that.

Equipment? We've got you covered.

In TaeKwonDo, Ensodo, and SAMA you need sparring gear to keep you safe. You can buy what you need on our website, and it's all available only to our own students at the cost price that we pay, so you benefit from our trade discounts and make a big saving on retail prices. If you're still stuck, talk to your Instructor, because we'll always do our best to help.

In Iaido and Bujutsu, we will lend you what you need to begin with. We can't stretch to buying you the formal practice sword, but we can continue to help with what you need until you are in a position to get your own, however long that takes.

Gradings, Teaching Courses, and Short Courses

Our TaeKwondo, Ensodo and SAMA grading fees all have low income options, and our teaching course fees, already running at cost price, all have "money's real tight" options. We can't manage that when offering short courses, such as introductory courses for beginners, but if you really want to do a course and just can't afford it, please contact us to ask if there's anything we can do to help.

Events and Workshops

We have an extensive programme of workshops and events for our students. Within LCTKD, most of our workshops and events are FREE to our students. So you get all the fun and the extra learning without having to worry about the cost. The few that are not free are priced at cost price or less, and there's always extra help for those who need it.
